Guinness World Record with Master Heaters

2011.12.17

This year on November 17th, two artists from London: Joe and Max have beaten the Guinness World Record by creating at the same time the largest and the longest 3D image in the world. We probably wouldn’t have mentioned this here if it wasn’t for the fact that Master gas-heaters have been used in preparations to beating this World Record.

The 3D street art Guinness World Record event was hosted by Reebok, who entered into collaboration with the artists as part of the CrossFit program, enabling them to create a true masterpiece. The three-dimensional image of 1 160,4 m2 was created in the London districts of West India Quays, Canary Wharf. The image size is t awe-inspiring thing, but so is the technique. In its making, the artists combined elements of illusion and street art. The image looks exactly like an icy chasm over which fitness classes were conducted over the course of a few days.

The image took a few days to make, during which the artists had to wrestle with the capricious London weather. There were strong winds, fog as well as rainfall and high moisture. Despite all this, the piece was finished. Reebok posted movies from the preparations on their YouTube channel – we found a few shots on which Master heaters are visible there. There are a few das heaters placed in various locations as the image is being made. Most likely they didn’t just raise the temperature, but also assisted in drying of the large amounts of paint and varnish that were used for the entire surface of the image.
